Presentation Criteria

This is a draft for a Grade 12 portfolio presentation evaluation form. Using examples developed by Langley staff (Krische et al), we have put together a 20 point rubric to assist evaluators with the presentation evaluation. The goal is to help markers and teaching staff to be as consistent as possible with the presentation marks. The four presentation headings put forward by the ministry ( i.e. Demonstrates effort, initiative, etc.)have been broken down into specific statments. A fifth organizer of the portfolio piece itself has also been added.

Portfolio Presentation Tool

The Tool is a series of HTML and graphics files that creates a ready-made presentation mechanism to present an electronic portfolio. The Tool consists of HTML files including an index, graphics files, a CSS stylesheet and files for each of the 6 aspects. Students link evidence and forms to each aspect. The Tool can be used locally or over the Internet. It can be easily modified by the student and can be used effectively with most HTML editors like Dreamweaver or Front Page. In local presentations it is very fast and can launch local programs quickly. It is free.

Art & Design Showcase

This is a Showcase presented by the Visual and Performing Art Departments to Planning 10 students so that they can complete Aspect 1.1. Planning 10 students attend this showcase and see a variety of fine and performing art. At the Showcase each "specialty teacher" provides a mini lesson on their subject area followed by student performances or displays (i.e. dance, music, theatre, art and visual art). Specialty teachers then use specific terminology to help students complete the criteria for Aspect 1.1. The Art & Design Showcase is truly a unique effort put forth by both students and staff.
